His back felt cold as he lay face-down, staring blindly in the dark. Maybe he should say it.
“I love you,” he whispered. The sounds of dressing stopped.
After long, silent moments fingertips caressed his cheek. Greg held his breath in surprise.
“I’m sorry.”
It must be over now.
“I didn’t know.”
Was that regret?
“Can we... try again?”
