Author's note: Written as a birthday gift for ccmom. This is from my Scrub verse but can be read as a stand-alone.
Summary: Harry wakes up, but Draco isn't beside him.

Harry woke up slowly and blinked his eyes open in the dark. Something was missing. Still sleepy, Harry reached for Draco. He frowned when he didn't feel the familiar warmth of his boyfriend next to him in bed. Cautiously, Harry searched with hands and even feet, hoping that Draco was still in bed with him.
It was only as he began to sit up and felt a tug of resistance on his hair that he settled back on his pillow with a smile. He reached over his head, and his seeking fingers encountered warm, silky fur. A tiny yawn and a sleepy chuff greeted him, and a small nose nuzzled into his hair. Harry had no idea why Draco sometimes assumed his ferret form and slept above his head on his pillow, but it was oddly comforting and a bit like wearing a furry nightcap.
Reassured, Harry allowed his eyes to drift shut once more while a tiny paw maintained its grip on his hair.
