Summary: Harry and Draco take the children on a picnic.
"Bye, Woona," Cory smiled, waving at his nanny as she blew kisses from the door.
"Goodbye, sweeties," she called back. Turning to Harry and Draco, Luna added, "Owl me if you need anything."
"We'll be fine," Draco assured her. "We have a lot of experience handling these two." As he spoke, he juggled Darcy on his hip.
"You enjoy your date with Rolf," Harry added. "We're going for a picnic at Hogsmeade."
"Nic-nic," beamed Darcy.
Luna waved once more and was gone.
Draco grinned at his husband. "It's just the four of us now," he remarked.
Harry winced at an internal kick to the liver. "You mean, just the seven of us," he sighed.
Draco watched the children while Harry packed a hamper with the picnic lunch Luna had made for them. He shrunk it down to a manageable size then gathered other items they would need, such as blankets. The family piled into the flying car that Harry and Draco had invested in when Cory and Darcy were still babies. They flew to the park near Hogsmeade, where Harry brought the car to a smooth landing. They chose a pleasant site to set up their picnic, and Harry was pleased to note that other Wizard families were out with their own children on such a glorious day.
Once the hamper had been unpacked and the food set out, it was difficult to get Cory and Darcy to sit and eat. They wanted to explore and play. The children picked at their food and whined until Draco gave them permission to go play on the swings. Cory bustled to the swing set as fast as his sturdy legs would go, while Darcy toddled along more slowly, clutching Harry's hand. Draco stayed behind and repacked the hamper with languid flicks of his wand. In the meantime, Harry had buckled both kids into the toddler swings and was using his wand to swing them gently back and forth. Their delighted laughter floated back to Draco, and he smiled and rubbed his rounded belly, feeling his babies wriggle in response.
Ever since the prior evening, when Luna had blithely announced he was carrying girls, Draco couldn't help but think of them as female. Although it would have been nice to have one of each, the prospect of identical daughters pleased him greatly. Darcy was all girl and needed some sisters to play with. Her brother Cory was too rough and rambunctious and often drove her to tears. As Draco debated waddling over to give Harry a hand versus relaxing on the blanket in the sunshine, another couple approached the toddler swings with their child in tow. They struck up a conversation with Harry, and Draco tried to place them. He felt a surge of possessive irritation sweep through him when he recognized Romilda Vane. It was she who had tried to get her claws into Harry back at Hogwarts. However, she was there with her husband, Terry Boot, so Draco forced himself to relax. After speaking with the other couple for a few minutes, Harry returned to the blanket and Draco. "Romilda said she'd keep an eye on Cory and Darcy if I wanted to sit and rest a moment," he said.
"I'm surprised she didn't try to dose you with love potion," Draco returned snidely.
Harry laughed at his fit of jealousy. "She and Terry are happily married. Besides, I doubt Romilda would find me attractive right now," he added, palming his stomach.
"I find you incredibly attractive," Draco purred, leaning close.
"Do you now?" teased Harry with a gleam in his eyes. Their faces drew nearer, lips parting in anticipation of a snog.
"Daddy! Papa!"
Draco groaned and Harry snickered. "What is it, Cory?" Harry asked their son.
Draco cast a glare in the direction of the swings. The parent in him felt better when he realized that Terry had been watching Cory's progress as he made his way back to them while Romilda was keeping the girls entertained.
"Wait a minute; why have you got that?" Harry was asking.
"Mona gave it to me," Cory stated proudly, grasping a yellow flower in his fist.
"Mona?" Draco questioned.
"Terry and Romilda's daughter, Ramona," Harry supplied. Returning his attention to Cory, he said, "It's a lovely flower. Did you thank Ramona?"
Cory shook his head and dashed back to thank his new friend.
"Lovely flower?" scoffed Draco. "It was a dandelion."
"It's a sign," Harry intoned, trying and failing to look solemn.
Draco's eyes narrowed. "If you don't stop going on about dandelions and daffodils, I will take it as a sign you want to spend the night in the guest room."
Harry chuckled and kissed the tip of his husband's nose. "Alright, no more mention of Daffodil and Dandelion," he promised. Draco was smug in victory until Harry taunted, "What about Monica and Veronica?"
