Lorcan turned to Lily with a happy smile on his face. "Do you remember how beautiful the courtyard was when it was covered with snow? Your red hair was gorgeous amid all that white."
Lily didn't know how to respond to that. She settled for saying, "It's late in the year for a snowfall."
Lorcan squeezed her hand. "You're still the most gorgeous thing out here."
She burst into tears. Gryffindor bravery was no match for a life-changing crisis.
Lorcan gaped at her before shifting and pulling Lily into his arms. "Don't cry. Whatever it is, we can fix it."
