"Promise chose the restaurant," said Nik, "and no, I don't believe pizza and candy bars are on the menu."
"Shame about that," I said. It wasn't, really. Fancy restaurants weren't my style. Promise, a wealthy widow five times over, fit right in, and Niko was a chameleon who could blend into any environment.
I rubbed Spartacus' ears and said, "I should have raided Goodfellow's fridge when I went there earlier. Now that I think of it, there's no reason why I couldn't--
"No, Cal."
"What?"
"You are not traveling back to Robin's condo just to pilfer food from his refrigerator."
