"No, I'm not going to make a grass salad," I said in answer to Cal's sarcastic question. "We plan to eat pizza and candy bars."
Cal's head whipped around. "Just for that, you bastard, I might stay here. You know I love pizza and chocolate."
I fought the urge to shudder at his diet. "We are going out for dinner," I said.
"Some place vegan?"
He made the word sound like crass profanity. "The restaurant has vegan options, yes," I replied. "Do you still want to join us?"
Cal scratched Spartacus' hairless head. "Do they serve pizza and candy bars?"
