I turned away from Cal's room, lest I be subjected to further bitching and moaning. While he'd been sleeping the morning away I'd already gone for an early run and taught a class at NYU.
Spartacus trotted after me a moment later. I heard a sound, as of something small and metallic being dropped on the kitchen floor, and I looked in time to see him bat an object under the table. Hoping it wasn't one of Cal's explosive rounds I swooped in to scoop it up.
It was a girl's yellow barrette.
I didn't know Cal still kept it.
