A sound jarred Scorpius out of his sordid reverie. He turned in a circle, scanning the tree line and the darkened path that emerged from the wooded area. Scorpius saw nothing. Just as he was about to dismiss the noise, he heard the snapping of a twig, as if it had been stepped on.
Scorpius' excitement turned to trepidation. What if something had traveled from the Forbidden Forest and was now stalking him?
Scorpius drew himself up. He was a wizard, and a Malfoy. He would not cower in the face of whatever was approaching. Scorpius drew his wand.
"Lumos!"
