Summary: Harry hates to admit it, but Astoria is a phenomenal baker.
Much as he hated to admit it, Harry's birthday cake was stunning. Draco had goaded him into asking Astoria to make it for his party, and she had created a masterpiece. The cake was chocolate, but it featured a treacle filling, and the icing was a chocolatey treacle ganache.
Harry couldn't wait to try it.
He didn't want to share it.
He stared at it longingly.
"You're drooling."
Harry blinked and turned to see Draco looking at him with fond amusement. "I'm not drooling," he insisted, dabbing at the corner of his mouth just to be sure.
"Astoria has outdone herself," said Draco, slinging an arm around Harry's waist as they stood there, admiring the confection. "I can't wait to taste it."
"You may not like it," Harry said quickly. "I mean, your favorite is lemon cake."
Draco's brows rose. "If I didn't know what a kind and generous person you are, Harry, I would think you don't want to share your birthday cake."
"Oh, ha ha, don't be ridiculous," Harry laughed nervously. "As if I could eat that entire cake by myself. Pfft."
"So you'll let me slice it and serve it to our guests?"
Harry fought the frown that threatened to turn into a pout. "Cut it into small pieces."
"How do you like the cake, Harry?"
"It's tremendous," Harry said. Astoria smiled up at him, and he found himself warming to her. Just a bit, mind. "Thank you for baking it for my party. How do you get the cake layers so moist?" he asked, lifting another forkful to his mouth.
"It's my secret ingredient," Astoria replied. "Poison!"
