Summary: Draco has no idea what Harry's surprise costume will be.
Draco stood in front of the mirror, turning this way and that to admire his costume. The black trousers fit just right, his scarlet waistcoat clung to his trim torso, and the sweep of his black cape was both elegant and dramatic.
"You look quite smashing, dear. Very frightening," chirped the mirror.
Draco grinned, exposing his temporary fangs. "I do make a dashing vampire, don't I?" he agreed. The only thing missing was his boyfriend.
"Harry?! Where are you? We're going to be late!"
Harry had refused to divulge his own costume. All he'd said was that he'd been working on it for some time and that Draco was sure to be impressed. Draco wondered if Harry was also going to the fancy dress party as a vampire. He would certainly make a dashing one, as well--all dark and smoldering.
Draco had to count to ten...twice...to get his wayward libido back under control. He was about to call for Harry again when a fluffy black cat sauntered into the bedroom.
"Hello, where did you come from?" Draco asked with a small frown. If Harry had adopted a pet without discussing it first, Draco would be quite cross with him.
"Harry! Why is there a cat in our house?!"
"Because I live here."
Draco gasped and reeled back when the cat abruptly transformed into Harry. "Bloody buggering hell, since when are you an Animagus?"
"Since forever, I reckon," Harry replied with a chuckle. "This is what I've been working on." With that, he melded into a cat again.
"You can't go to the party like that; someone will step on your tail."
Harry's haunches bunched and he leaped into the air, landing on Draco's shoulder with nary a wobble nor a claw digging in for purchase. He then draped himself around Draco's neck like a furry scarf.
"I am not carrying your lazy arse all over this evening."
Harry bunted Draco's jaw and purred.
Draco's eyes nearly crossed as he attempted to glare at his boyfriend from close range. "You had better make it worth my while when we get back home."
Harry responded by licking his muzzle and then Draco's ear.
The odd sensation startled a very un-vampire-like giggle out of Draco. "Very well, you fiend. We shall attend this soiree as Dashing Vampire with Bedraggled Cat...ouch!...and when we get home, I expect plenty of licking from my human boyfriend. Agreed?"
Harry dipped his head in acknowledgement and wrapped his tail loosely around Draco's throat.
"Hm, I can see where you may come in handy during the coldest weeks of winter," Draco mused. "Let us be off, faithful scarf. We have a party to attend, guests to amaze, and champers to drink. Can cats drink champagne? Never mind, we'll think of something." As he spoke, Draco stepped into the enlarged Floo, whisking them away in a flash of green.
