Neville awoke to a faint pink light at the window. He sat up, relishing the minor aches and twinges caused by the action, and looked out. Neville was treated to the sight of a glorious sunrise. Clouds were streaked with pale color, but they were thin and wispy. The winter storm had clearly moved on, meaning they were no longer trapped in this remote cabin.
He found that disappointing.
Beside him, Charlie stirred and opened his eyes. "G'morning," he rasped, reaching for Neville. "Come here."
Neville smiled and went willingly into Charlie's arms.
It turned into the best morning ever.
