Summary: The ladies are on Harry's side.
Harry overslept the following morning, but that didn't stop him from trekking into Dragon Brew for his usual Long Black. Lynsey was looking a tad bleary-eyed, too, and she held up her fist to exchange a bump with Harry. He hoped her evening had been more fun than his.
Before Harry could order his coffee, Malfoy emerged from the kitchen and took Lynsey's place. "You look like something the Kneazle dragged in," he observed.
"I blame you."
"How is it my fault?" Malfoy exclaimed.
"You worked me too hard last night, and not in the fun way," grumbled Harry.
Malfoy snickered and took Harry's mug to fill it for him. "You're not upset, are you?" he asked.
Harry paid for his coffee, dropped the change in Luna's jar, and took a sip of the bracing brew before he replied. "If I'm on edge, it's not because I'm tired."
If Malfoy understood the implication, he gave no sign. "You know what they say," he drawled. "Keep calm and drink tea. Or coffee, in your case."
Harry's lip curled. The only thing that would calm him down at this point was a rousing round of sex.
"Auror Potter, you seem to be holding up the line."
Harry turned and looked down into Ethel's annoyed countenance. "Terribly sorry," he muttered, stepping to the side so that Ethel and Mabel could place their orders. To Malfoy, he said, "I'll see you later."
"Oh, do you boys have a date this evening?" Ethel crowed.
Every head in the coffee shop turned. Harry felt his face get hot, and he was amused to note the pink flush that graced Malfoy's cheeks. Harry pulled on his inner Slytherin and smiled at Ethel.
"Alas, Mr Malfoy is proving resistant to my charms," he sighed. "Perhaps you can convince him that I am worth his while."
"Shame on you, Mr Malfoy," Ethel scolded. "Why, you won't find a better match than Auror Potter, and don't let me catch you taking up with that bounder who keeps coming in here just to flirt with you..."
Harry saluted Malfoy with his cup and left Dragon Brew, chuckling to himself as Ethel continued to berate the barista.
