Jae's Monthly Drabble Challenge # 170

Apr 05, 2020 11:54

This is going to be a difficult month for all of us, as most lockdowns/quarantines are set to run through April...at least. Guh. We shall persevere!

This month's JMDC prompt is a short list of "P" words: perfect, picnic, posture, preen, prepare, propose, puffy. Use one, some, or all! Feel free to write/draw any fandom, pairing, threesome, gen fic, original fic, etc. Combine it with other prompts, if you're able.

Please post your entry in your own journal (unlocked!) or a community of your choice, and leave me a link in the comments below. You have until April 30 at 10:00pm CST to submit an entry. At that time, I'll post links to the entries and draw a name from among the participants to receive a drabble from me.

Below is my entry for this month:

hd_fluff Prompt No. 165 - staying in
Summary: Bad weather is no match for ingenuity.

Rain lashed the window panes, while trees swayed in the wind.

Harry stared out the windows and heaved a sigh. "It looks like we'll be staying in today."

"You promised me a picnic lunch."

Harry turned to glare at Draco, only to see his boyfriend's lips twitching. "Prat," he muttered. "I doubt even your vaunted spellwork could keep us dry in this monsoon."

Draco joined him at the window and heaved a sigh of his own. "It's fine, Harry. We can reschedule."

Harry straightened from his slumped posture. "We don't have to reschedule," he said. "We can have an indoor picnic!"

"A picnic indoors?" asked Draco, his skepticism blatantly obvious. "How do you propose we do that?"

"We'll put our picnic blanket on the floor, pack our hamper with picnic food, and eat right here in the lounge," Harry replied, warming to the idea. When Draco still didn't appear convinced, Harry added, "Why don't you create some glamours while I prepare the food?"

Harry rushed to the kitchen before Draco could respond. He busied himself making sandwiches, gathering grapes and strawberries, and selecting a bottle of wine. By the time he returned to the lounge with the hamper and a blanket, Harry had to pause and marvel at what Draco had wrought.

The ceiling looked like the sky, complete with puffy clouds. The floor resembled a grassy meadow, and their furniture had been glamoured into bushes and boulders.

"Draco, this is perfect!"

Draco preened. "I'm a genius, admit it."

"You are a genius," Harry conceded. "This is going to be the most brilliant picnic ever."

"I agree," said Draco. "Aren't you glad I thought of it?"
