Summary: The best way to spread love this season...was to spike the punch.

A Pensieve was a wonderful thing. It allowed a person to view his or her memories from a fresh perspective. The memory of the Ministry's annual Christmas party, for instance, deserved to be seen again and relished at leisure.

In the memory, most of the guests seemed to be enjoying themselves, but others looked distinctly unhappy. Of course, this was before they began drinking the punch. Once the guests began consuming the fizzy beverage, they smiled and laughed and danced. Some of them even paired off. On the surface, it might appear that some choices of partners were odd, but the punch had a special ingredient...and it wasn't the alcohol.

The most important ingredient in the punch was magic. The punch had been brewed and imbued with the magic of wishes and desire and love. Thus, the people who were there with their soulmates had that sense of love and security renewed, such as Ginny Weasley and Dean Thomas. Others who laughed and danced and left together may not have realized it at the time, but they were going home with their own soulmates.

Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy gravitated to one another immediately. They had a brief conversation, after which they exited the ballroom together. It wasn't much of a surprise; those two had been drawn to one another since they were mere boys.

The Pensieve revealed Seamus Finnigan and Ronald Weasley commiserating over the loss of their respective significant others. However, as they talked they began to smile and laugh until they, too, left the party together. That was a surprise, but a delightful one, nonetheless.

Neville Longbottom and Pansy Parkinson had stepped onto the dance floor together, gliding and turning across the floor as if they'd been dance partners for years. Eventually, they also skived off together, no doubt to engage in a different sort of dancing.

George Weasley and Oliver Wood were deep in conversation, probably discussing Quidditch. It was refreshing to see George having a good time for once. He'd been far too morose since the war. They left the party, one after the other, although it was clear to even a casual observer that they had the same destination in mind.

Ah, yes. It had been a good night's work. It seemed the new year would bring about a fresh new start for several people, thanks to the magical punch. The spell had been a stroke of brilliance and a wonderful way to spread love this season. After all, what were the holidays without love?

As the Pensieve was being returned to its proper place, the front door opened and closed with a bang.

"Luna?"

Her heart skipped a beat, making Luna smile. Her own soulmate never failed to have that effect on her.

"Luna?!"

"Coming, Rolf!"
