Here's the thing: I would really like to GENTLY ENCOURAGE those who are able, to:
- back up their fest communities
- create and/or edit a fest community's page on fanlore- create and/or edit their own ( Read more... )

Hi Enchanted Jae,

No, but back in the day, when DW first started up, you needed an 'invite'. I ended it when I found I just was not there anymore.

I also have Insane Journal, which mainly had a Kink Fest and that's about it. I go there daily to check my icons, and check my main profile page, and delete those who left IJ.
That's about a 2 minute visit.

I have a Tumblr account and have for years. The only reason why I got it, was over at the IMDB Daniel Radcliffe Message Boards, some would post good and recent pictures of Dan. Then, post the link to Tumblr. I got Tumblr so I could view and access the Tumblr link posted on the Imdb message board about Dan R.

I never go on Tumblr. I find it tiring and very cumbersome. Thus, I never go on it.
Am Never on it.

I have a Twitter account to follow Tom Felton, he twitted back to me in 2009, really sweet, called my 'lovely'. But, I have not been on Twitter in years. I find it boring.

I mainly stay at Archive of Our Own, and read my bookmarked H/D fiction's there. Most are recommended by Capitu, thank god for her. We have the same tastes in H/D fictions.

I go to Live J. to check out Capitu's rec's and read them. I also go to Live J. to read your H/D stories and real life posts.
I haven't read my 'friends list' on live j. in years. I have other things now to occupy my time in real life.

We have lost so many. Dyson Rules, Nurse Drarry, Faith( I forgot her full name) ,
Leo_Draconis ( she shortly left after being singled out and flamed for her fics being 'cheesy.'

I also think real life has gotten in the way.
When I was working in a shit job, Live Journal, the people and the fictions helped keep me sane.

I have some saved H/D stories from authors that removed them, and don't want them viewed. They are on my computer, and if I have time, I will occasionally read one.

It makes me sad that the Dan Radcliffe Imbd board is leaving. In fact, all the fan message boards are coming down Feb. 19th, or Feb. 20th. I was able to get good news on DR and some great photos. Dans Google + account is lame, he forgets about it half the time, until the fans complain, and then he throws something up on it.

I hope that more good Live j. fests make it over to Dream Width to be posted and archived.

My friend, Naadi, told me around the holidays there was going around a rumor about live j. in the rumor mill. Something about the Russians were thinking about pulling down and ending Live J. It was Not for the homosexual content of the fan fictions.

This is what Naadi wrote me - " The rumor this time isn't about slash, and is something new. The Russians, as I understand it, bought Live J. some years ago, but the servers where it was hosted were still in California. Now, it seems they have moved All the Servers to Russia, so there is a rumor that they will Kick All Non-Russian Accounts Off. Could be true, but who knows.

So, I think it is a great and good idea to preserve and save as many H/D fests as we possibly can. Dream width seems a save site for now.

It's going to be devastating if Live Journal gets deleted by the Russians. I have a ton of pictures of Dan Radcliffe and other things that I have saved either privately or publically to my journal.

So, we'll see what happens to live journal.

Have you heard any rumors about Live Journal, the Russians, anything like that?

Also, Instagram, SnapChat, and a ton of new, faster, selfie induced sites are exploding all over the internet. When one starts to fade, another crops up in its place.

Needless to say, I do not have Instagram, or SnapChat. I hate and Never have had Facebook, or My Spot.

I am a pretty private, low - key person.

With big brother all over the place, I prefer it that way.

Keep me posted, Jae, and thank you.

I miss all those authors, too, but at least they all left their LJs active. I'm afraid I'm not on anything BUT LJ, IJ, and DW. No Tumblr or Twitter or anything of the like.

As for LJ getting rid of non-Russian journals, I don't see it happening. Their solvency is dependent on how many users they have. The more the merrier, for them.

True.

I may reinstate Dream W. if Live journal people are going to post and save H/D rec's over there.

I hope you are right about the non-Russian journals. I have been on live journal 10 years now, and have so many pictures of Dan, and of my life on my journal/blog. It's been quite a process over the years.
