Summary: Millie waits for Hermione to make up her mind. Follows Scouting Out Party.

Millie was encouraged by the determined glint in Granger's eyes. She wasn't a girl to be trifled with, yet Weasley seemed to make trifling with Granger his life's goal. Millie would never treat Granger like that. She wondered if she should make another pitch or just let the other girl make up her own mind. Millie wanted to be with Granger, even if it was just for this one night, but she reckoned if she pushed too hard, Granger would back off.

Millie decided to wait it out.

Granger's lively mind was obviously working furiously, and Millie crossed her fingers behind her back, hoping the she-tiger would change her stripes. Millie's lips twitched as she fought off a grin. Granger was a Gryffindor, a lioness. Millie would need to come up with a lion analogy...some day, but not tonight. Tonight was for coming out and making discoveries and forging new alliances. Millie was aware that many of her fellow Slytherins were trying to pull Gryffindors this evening. She wished all of them well. Perhaps by tomorrow, there would be a new level of understanding between the two Houses, and much more fraternizing.

Although Millie's mind was wandering, she kept her attention focused on Granger. After all, it was Weasley's wandering attention that had dropped this treasure in Millie's lap, and she didn't want to squander the opportunity. To Millie's way of thinking, Granger was like a caterpillar, trembling on the edge of becoming a beautiful butterfly. Millie wanted to be the one who guided Granger through that metamorphosis.

Granger's eyes narrowed on Millie, as if privy to her thoughts. "Can I trust you?" she asked. Before Millie could reply, Granger blew out an exasperated breath and answered her own question. "Of course, I can't trust you, Bulstrode. You're a Slytherin, and a more self-serving lot there never was. The real question is, can I trust myself to spend the night with you and not get in over my head?"

Millie smiled at her and shrugged. "There's only one way to find out."
