hogwarts365 Prompt #28 - Neville Longbottom, whispered words
Summary: Sequel to last week's
Blurting Out Party.
Pansy kept her head high as she made her way towards Ginny Weasley. Her heart was racing with a combination of excitement and anxiety. Pansy feared she was about to make a fool of herself, but it was all for a good cause. If she tried to pull the Weasley girl, then Theo would make his own play for Neville Longbottom. Pansy was convinced Longbottom was perfect for her friend, and she would gladly court disaster to see it happen.
Of course, Pansy had an ulterior motive. She fancied the Weasley girl, and this might very well be her only chance to seduce her. Pansy came to a halt two steps behind Ginny. "Weasley," she said, proud of how steady her voice sounded.
Ginny turned her head and blinked in surprise. "Parkinson," she greeted, her tone polite but cool.
Pansy scrambled for something to talk about. "Are you enjoying the party?" she asked, just to break the ice.
"I'll enjoy it more when Harry arrives," snorted Ginny. "He owes me an explanation."
"Didn't you know he was bent?" Pansy blurted. What a horrid way to find out that one's boyfriend was gay!
Ginny's eyes narrowed, and her nostrils flared. "He told me he was, yes, but I didn't believe him."
"Why didn't you believe him?"
"Because he kissed me!" Ginny exclaimed.
Pansy inspected her bright pink nails. "Was it a good kiss?"
Ginny seemed taken aback, and her mouth worked for a moment before her shoulders slumped. She muttered something, but Pansy didn't catch the whispered words.
"Sorry?" Pansy prodded. She needed to get Ginny to admit that Potter wasn't right for her.
"No," sighed Ginny. "Harry's kisses left me cold. I thought it was just a case of nerves on his part or mine, but maybe..."
"Maybe he'd rather have been snogging a bloke, even if he didn't know it himself at the time" Pansy finished for her.
"It seems that way," Ginny admitted. She fidgeted with her glass of juice, eyes cast downward.
Pansy went for the kill. "Perhaps Potter's kisses left you cold because you'd rather be kissing a girl."
