Summary: It's Christmas morning, and Harry has yet to put in an appearance.
It was Christmas morning, and Draco was up and dressed and waiting on Harry. Draco cradled a mug of spiced cider between his hands as he stared out of the frosted windows in the living room. There was no snow on the ground, but frost sparkled from every tree branch in the early morning sunshine.
Draco turned around, gaze straying to the gifts piled beneath the Christmas tree. Most of them were meant to be taken to the Burrow later that day, while others would go to Malfoy Manor on Christmas night. The rest, however, were meant to be opened here and now. If only Harry would put in an appearance.
Draco went to the Christmas tree. "Good morning," he greeted the faeries who were hidden within the branches. A smattering of giggles was the only response he received. "Would one of you be so kind as to wake Mr Potter?" Draco requested.
At first, nothing happened. Eventually, one small faerie peered out at Draco from behind the safety of an ornament. Draco nodded encouragement and stepped away from the tree. From his peripheral vision, he saw the faerie take flight. A moment later, he heard Harry's voice from upstairs.
"Hey! What the...?! Alright, alright, I'm up!"
The faerie arrowed back downstairs, giggling the entire way, and darted into the branches of the tree once more. Two minutes later, Harry came stumbling into the living room, badly rumpled and in need of a shave.
"Happy Christmas, Harry," said Draco. He raised his mug to his lips to hide a smile.
Harry responded with a grunt that sounded like 'Merry Christmas' before flopping on the sofa.
"Would you like some cider, or would you prefer to open your gift?" Draco asked him.
Harry sat up straight. "A gift?"
Draco chuckled and located Harry's gift from among the others. "Here, you greedy sot," he said, handing him the package.
Harry tore the wrapping away with eager hands. "Draco!" he gasped, looking with wonder at his gift. "You got me an e-reader!"
"Yes, well, I do not approve of them, mind, but I know you wanted one," Draco said. "I hope you enjoy it."
"I definitely will," said Harry. He was already busy powering it up. "You loaded some books onto to it already?!"
"Granger helped me," said Draco. "I imagine you can add more on your own."
Harry didn't respond; he was busy with his new gadget. Draco just grinned and shook his head. He had finally succeeded in securing peace and quiet in the house.
