Yes it is, but sometimes it feels as if we are going back in time with the things they are just doing.

I don't usually use this icon in LJs other than my own, but I think this time it's really appropriate.

*flames coming out the sides of my face*

Signed the petition and will boost. UGH.

It seems almost laughable. I mean, do they seriously think they have the right to deny someone access to birth control? Will men have to get a signed note from their doctor stating that they are using condoms to prevent the spread of (insert disease of choice) rather than for contraception? Of course not, because they're MEN, and men are encouraged to have all the sex they can get, while women are being forced into an archaic mind-set of only having sex for purposes of procreation.

That's exactly where my mind went too.

The link doesn't work for me (maybe because I'm in Canada), but I found this:

http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-arizona-birth-control-bill-20120328,0,4080309.story

According to that, the Arizona Senate already rejected it. Is this a newly resurrected bill?

If the Senate has already rejected it, good for them.

Still, the fact that someone even had the notion to submit such an absurd, archaic bill is...it's mind-boggling.

Are you talking about this:

http://thinkprogress.org/health/2012/03/29/453984/arizona-senate-defeats-controversial-birth-control-coverage-bill/?mobile=nc

"Lawmakers in the Republican-controlled Arizona state Senate have voted down a bill that would allow employers to drop health insurance coverage for birth control if it conflicted with their moral or religious beliefs..."

It will pop up again in some other insidious manner. What the hell are these people even thinking, to formulate something so invasive and, frankly, infantilizing, as if women can't be trusted to make their own decisions.

I'm surprised at bills like these still come out of the woodwork every once in a while (well maybe if it was in my country I wouldn't be as shocked)

It is plain as day that bills like these should be held unconstitutional from the very start because they already unreasonably regulate and intrude into the very personal and private (sex) lives of people. *angry-nerd-mode*

They've been coming out of the woodwork far too frequently of late.
