Summary: Scorpius forgets about the race.
Scorpius was steadily gaining on Albus, and he could already taste victory in the lingering flavor of Al on his lips. Snogging Albus again would be like Scorpius' birthday and Christmas morning rolled into one.
Ahead of him, Scorpius saw Al's broom veer sharply an instant before it seemed to collide with something. The broom snapped, and Albus fell, tumbling like a rag doll toward the unforgiving ground.
"Al!" cried Scorpius, arrowing his broom after his friend. It was no use; he would never get there in time. In desperation, Scorpius drew his wand and cast a hasty cushioning charm.
