Summary: It took a lot of nerve for Draco to show up at Harry's home. Too much nerve, some think.

Draco hesitated outside the door to Number 12 Grimmauld Place. It had taken a lot of courage for him to get this far, and now that courage was faltering. Sure, Potter--Harry--had invited Draco to come for a visit any time, but had he really meant it? Draco thought he'd seen a spark of interest in Harry's eyes, and the promise of it had drawn him to Harry's home this evening.

Draco wiped his sweaty palms on his trousers and knocked on the door. He was taken aback when the summons was answered, not by Harry, but by Weasley.

"Malfoy," growled Weasley. "What do you want?" He made the question sound like an insult.

Draco resisted the urge to snipe back. He didn't want to alienate Harry's friends, after all. Instead, Draco lifted his chin and said, "I'm here to see Harry."

"I think not," Weasley sneered. "You're not good enough for the likes of Harry." He stepped back and shut the door firmly in Draco's face.

Draco flushed with shame as he stared at the closed door. Shoulders slumping, he turned to walk away, humiliated by the realization that Weasley was right.
