I've been told a number of times, and have noticed it to generally be true, that I am overly sarcastic at times, often during inappropriate situations (Isn't it that what makes it sarcasm though??). I'll admit I'm guilty of taking pleasure watching someone try to figure out if I'm being serious or not. They usually figure it out when I display my goofy grin after a bit (I can't keep a straight face because I'm an awful liar).
So I decided a few minutes ago to wink whenever I am being sarcastic. I think winking is a highly underused (and powerful!) form of nonverbal communication.
I won't wink right away though.
I'll wait a few seconds, so I still get the reaction I was after.
I imagine it will go something like this:
- I say something hilariously sarcastic at an inappropriate situation.
- Guy #1 thinks, "WHAT?! That is SO inappropriate for this situation! Is he really serious? He isn't giving me any indication if he is or he is not serious. Is he taking pleasure watching me try to figure out if he is serious or not? Oh wait! He WINKED! Haha! That was so inappropriately sarcastic and funny! I'm a better person for listening to him talk! I'm going to name my kid after him!"
I've also decided to begin writing poetry.
Poem About Socks #1
Socks are neat.
I have a bunch of white socks.
Today one my socks got dirty.
I was playing in the mud.
I didn't care too much.
I have a bunch of white socks.
I won't miss that one dirty old sock.
My feet smell like ham.
