Happy New Year!
My NYE was far better than I expected it to be. More sober than I would have liked, but the fireworks were good (pictures coming later), and my family weren't as annoying as I thought they would be.
We went into London and went skating in Hyde Park, and wandered round the Christas fair there - kind of like half a fun fair and half a market, but it was cool. We had dinner in London, too, and then stood for two hours in the cold waiting for fireworks! I read the introduction to Paradise Lost to keep myself occupied. We didn't get back until past three.
I never did make any resolutions last year. This year, though, I have three. One of them was contributed by someone anonymous - thank you!
1. To try to really enjoy the work I'm doing at uni, and remember why I wanted to study it. It's far too easy to just learn things, and not think about them properly. I'll need to love my course to make it through four years of it, so I need to make the effort to love it.
2. To not use my overdrft for anything stupid, to only use it for essentials. Honestly, I should never need to use my overdraft. I should really keep a closer eye on my spending in general.
3. To do the things I want to do, act on ideas, and try to have the qualities I admire in other people. People like belenustenebrae and nosundays - I want to be the person who picks up stray gloves and turns them into soft toys! I want to see the beauty in everything... This year I will take more photos, and act on random impulses, and try to write the ideas that come to me.
I should bookmark this entry so I can come back to it and remind myself what I ought to be doing.
