The History Boys - "just one fucking thing after another"

I could really do with a cup of tea. But we're in the middle of a power cut right now. I'm having to kinda squint at my laptop screen because it's on power saver mode. I hope the power comes back soon... otherwise I'll actually have to do work XP

I started a Mechs practice paper, but I've forgotten how to do most of the stuff that isn't projectiles. So yay, go me, I can do one chapter out of five. Weirdly, I might be doing better in C4 at the moment. But I have no idea how Dare and Holly managed to get through A-level Maths... it's horrible ><

Anyway, yesterday was fun, and tomorrow is likely to be fun too.

...I went into London with Merrie. Gods, my feet hurt now. I have multiple blisters. It's entirely my own fault for wearing heels, but usually my cowboy boots aren't too bad. ::shrug:: Anyway, we wandered - went to Camden (it's not too badly burnt! ^^), I showed Merrie the awesome clothes shop next to Oddballs, I looked at staffs in Oddballs, and Merrie looked at wigs for the Expo. Then we went to Oxford Street and tried on silly dresses in Topshop. Conclusion: Lissi can wear dresses that stop just above the knee, but should not wear floaty pastel blue or anything with ruffles on the bottom half. We tried on dresses in other places, too. Most of those were nicer. I think it was pretty successful - at least we both know the kind of style we want to wear, now. I found a very nice dress in Debenhams - Merrie liked it, too, but they didn't have her size... anyway, I tried it on, and it's the best thing I've found so far! XD

We sent someone a postcard. Hopefully it'll arrive ^^

We got lost a couple of times - going the wrong way on the tube and down Tottenham Court Road... I didn't know that Merrie had a map with her, or I'd have made her use it XD

And then, in the evening, we went to see The History Boys! That was a bit complicated - fifteen minutes before the show was due to start, we were on a stationary tube train in Bond Street station, panicking. We got off the train, in the end, and went a different route (involving lots of dashing through stations and up and down stairs). We got there, sat down, congratulated ourselves on getting there on time - and then the curtain went up. It was that close! XD

We had awesome seats, though, considering what we paid for the tickets. We were on the highest level, but right at the front, so we didn't have to look over or around anyone's heads.

The play was very good. Posner was very gay, and Irwin was more 'gung-ho', as Merrie put it, and less vulnerable than he seemed in the film. Dakin, though, seemed more sincere, possibly a little vulnerable himself. He was good - there was a very funny bit where he threw himself backwards onto a table (in despair at himself) XD

Hector was very good. I think I preferred him to Hector in the film - he was a little more likeable... The change when he was told he had to leave by the headmaster was instant - he seemed suddenly older. Whoever the actor was playing him, he did a very good job ^^

I didn't like Totty (Mrs Lintott) as much in this version, though. She seemed a bit... stubbornly oblivious, rather than as genuinely well meaning as she came across in the film.

Oh, and there were bits that aren't in the film! One of them has inspired me to write fic. The difference between 'immoral' and 'a-moral' (a-moral as opposed to amoral... I'm actually not sure how to spell it ^^;; ).

Anyway, in conclusion: very good play, if you like the film and have the chance to see the stage version, take it! ^^

I bought Elliot Minor's album yesterday, and I'm listening to it now. It's not as good as I was hoping, but the sound quality on my laptop speakers isn't much good, and it's quite possible that the album will grow on me.

Crap, I think that's as much rambling as I can get away with. I guess I'll go... check various comms, and then do work XD
