Contest results

Of the two contests I entered, I won one and lost the other.

The Nequus RP Contest I won. I have Meleager! Yay! ::dances:: ...but there were only two entries, and the other was, well, unrealistic in places, as well as being out of character... although I would think that. Still, he should be great fun to play. I just hope I can keep up his character.

The GIW Contest I didn't come in the top three. I'm thinking that they didn't like that I used the theme so literally... ::shrug:: Either that, or they didn't think I was creative/original enough - seeing as I know my SPG was correct and no one has ever complained about my formatting... and I've been told my writing flows well. Yes, I am a little bitter about this. I didn't like either of the top two entries. One of them had a weird ending - the main character fainted. I thought it was a bit of a cop out. The other didn't flow all that well, to my mind, and overused names (rather than epithets). Yes, I'm being picky.

I'll shut up about that now...

There's a new GIW Contest. The prompt is "take a definition(s) of a fool and construct a story/prose/poem/etc around it". And it has to include the word 'meow'. XD

Problem is, I have no ideas for this. The only ideas I have had are fanfiction-related, which isn't allowed. I did actually have one that wasn't, but it would involve far too much plotting of backstory to be feasible. It was to do with what I'm planning to be the other half of the Gallant Court story - the court of the king of the country that the main characters are outcasts from. Although I suppose Lord Owain or Lady Assen could have a court Fool.

The other problem is, although I love the idea of the Shakespearean fool, I don't think I'm good enough to write it. ('Shakespeare's fools are subtle teachers, reality instructors one might say... they tickle, coax and cajole their supposed betters into truth, or something akin to it') I wouldn't know where to begin.

...I would enter to be a judge, since they need another one, but you need credentials (which I don't have), plus a sample of a critique, which I also don't have. And you need a sample of your work - I would use my entry, but seeing as I didn't do well that would be a bit like dooming myself to failure.

Anywaaaay. I shall shut up completely now, seeing as all I'm doing is convincing myself that I fail at life XD

I might go cook. I'm making dinner tonight, and I can always prepare in advance.
