I gotta say this, because it's been bugging me ever since slash, shounen-ai, and yaoi became popular among the bigger series on ffnet and other various fanfiction websites.
If you, as an aspiring author of any intelligence whatsoever, have the urge to write a story that involves two men a) falling in love, b) screwing around, or c) all of the above, then there's one thing you must, must remember lest you be sent to the seventh level of hell.
Boys do not suddenly become girls.
Jounouchi is not cursed to become a girl. Nor is Harry. And Sora will not suddenly drink a potion made by some random person on Destiny Island and suddenly sprout breasts and a vagina.
I'm tired of looking for a good fic to immerse myself in, only to find the site flooded with "lol, someone botched Harry's potion and now he's a girl and wants to screw Snape/Lucius!", "Jou got hit with an Egyptian curse and is now a girl, so Seto wants his hot bod!", and "A heartless attacked Sora and now he's a girl and after Riku!" If that's the extent of your creativity, then stop writing, please.
They are boys. They will always be boys. If you don't like that fact, then write for another pairing. You want het in the YGO! fandom? Write for Seto/Shizuka or Yami/Anzu. Want het in the HP universe? I'm pretty sure Ron and Hermione are only two seconds away from jumping each other as it is. Please don't go fucking around with my OTPs when you have plenty of other options available. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't enjoy it if a slasher took your favorite het couple and made one of them a different gender, would you? Then kindly leave my slash pairings alone and stop trying to make them het.
