My dad's cousin Tommy is back home from the hospital. Turns out they thought he wasn't going to make it when he got admitted. His tumor was apparently leaking blood... they did some radiation procedure, did some transfusions, and he seems to be doing a lot better. He's only the second one to have survived this where he is being treated, so I guess that is good news. He called my memere today. She asked if he misses riding his motorcycle and he told her that he goes to sit on it sometimes. I thought that was sad. And then when he hung up he said "I love you Aunt Theresa" which made her cry. I still am not able to put sick Tommy and Tommy I saw in October together in my head.
I saw a story on the Today show this week about a man who was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon (?) cancer and given 2 weeks to live... ten years ago. Things like this give me hope. At the same time, pancreatic cancer is notoriously bad and I am not sure there has ever been a case documented of a "cured" patient.
