on the edge of my pants

I've been putting off posting until I figure out what's going on with me next year, I wanted to have an 'announcement' type post. But alas, I'm still in limbo until I get a 4-day-awaited e-mail.

So basically, I was offered a position in a lab at McGill. It's a fantastic, space-age, super-advanced lab that works with a nematode as a model organism and looks at the cell division cycle and cancer. So people might actually understand what I do when I try and explain it! Plus the prof is like a rockstar biologist who makes sure that all his grad students will get along before he hires them. And they are really really nice, I went to the grad pub for lunch with them when I was there. The day after I got back from Montreal I e-mailed him to thank him for the trip (he paid for EVERYTHING) and he wrote back to offer me a position. So I was realllyyyy excited and thought about it for a week (just to be sure) and e-mailed him to accept. And now I'm waiting to hear back. I'm nervous, he usually replied in about 5 seconds. I realize he's most likely away or something, but I'm nervous that he regrets offering me the position or something. So I feel like I'm waiting to hear back from someone after a first date, checking my email every five minutes....

Interviews were so much like first dates. The usual hi-how-are-you and how-is-the-weather conversations over and over and the awkwardness and being unsure of what to say. And I even got stood up for one! I have to admit it was one of the reasons I didn't choose McMaster, I was just so insulted. And the other guy I met works with flies (which he didn't specify on his website) and I really don't want to be a 'fly pusher', as they are known.

I just really hope I hear back from the guy in Montreal soon.. my dad offered to call him pretending to be someone else just to see if he's there. I laughed at first but I'm definitely starting to consider it... 0.o

I will keep you posted!! :D
