Currently searching for a hotel to stay at in Pensacola in May. I was perusing my past posts at betterbidding.com and saw one I made for The Miami Sun Hotel. Oh LORDY!
Karissa and I stayed here when we did Warped in '07. WORST HOTEL EVER. Let me preface this by saying I am NOT a picky hotel stayer. Especially when I just need it for a shower and to sleep off the 12 hour day I just worked out in the hot sun. I've stayed in plenty of cheap, crack-whore motels in my years as a "road warrior" but this one takes the cake (or crack pipe, if you will). Below is an excerpt of my review on betterbidding.com:
I realize this was a 1-star rating, but I feel like this hotel shouldn't even be operating and hotwire shouldn't be partnering with them. We felt like we would get a disease from the room. We were put into a room with two twin beds for our double occupancy. The front desk refused to give us a refund when we were unsatisfied because "we have been here longer than an hour and a lot of people just use the room for their 'business' (i.e. sex) and then want to leave" So basically its a prostitute motel?
I have to laugh at this now because I remeber that day so clearly. Miami was towards the end of our longest stretch out on the road. We had suffered a post-poned date in Houston leaving us no chance to go back to Nashville, as we planned, before we did the Atlanta and Florida dates. Then, on the way from Atlanta to Jacksonville my alternator went out and we got stranded in bo-dunk Georgia where we waited ALL DAY LONG for a freaking alternator, while we watched the mechanic nap as everyone else went out for their 2 hour lunch. Things just move much slower in the south. Missed the Jacksonville date altogether. Made it to Tampa where the humidity was enought to choke us to death. And then in Miami, the thunderstorm from hell bitch slapped the venue around late in the afternoon. I think we headed out early that day because all the tents were down by late afternoon. Oh yes I remember exactly what we did now, we went back to the (crack) hotel and showered (did we get any cleaner?) and CAME BACK to the venue to watch NFG as the last band of the night. YES, the show went on even through on and off thunderstorms. Classic Warped.
Man, the memories. It's no lie I will have these a lifetime.
