I went to my first NHL game last night. I feel like I should feel more Canadian now.
Except, of course, that I went to see the Phoenix Coyotes play the New York Rangers. O Canada was not sung, despite there being about 80% Canadian players on the ice. Nickelback was played because people here like it, not because of CanCon rules. I sat next to a raging New Yorker whose heckling was definitely heard by the players despite our being in the nosebleed seats. I had a giant pretzel and a PBR (my first ever) during the game, then we went out for Mexican food and I had a truly amazing Patron margarita with my enchiladas.
