Hey all,
I don't know whether this'll count as too Off Topic, but if so, inform me and I'll delete. I've recently had Photoshop uninstalled (computer crashed, dramas ensued) and I've been debating whether to finally shell out the money and buy a legal copy of CS2 between a few friends. However, someone mentioned GIMP, which is apparently a freeware version that seems to keep up with the Photoshop guys as far as plugins go.
So I have a few questions:
1) Does anyone have some experience with GIMP?
2) Is is as good as photoshop? Considering I was still using mainly CS2 (and just learning to negoatiate CS3)
3) Can I open old PS files in GIMP? Or is there a converter I can get?
4) What about old Corel files?
5) Do brushes for PS work in GIMP?
6) Will I get endless ads from them? Does the lack of guilt make up for the ads?
And anything else you may have learnt from use of GIMP.
Sorry about those who get this more than once, I'm cross posting it to a few places.
