Diagonal Lines

May 12, 2008 19:02

Oh-wonderous-all-knowing-F-list,

You know those pretty parallel diagonal lines that goes onto banners? How does everyone do them? Does it come from a brush or from a lot of time spent copying and pastting?

Why yes, I am procrastinating

procrastination, arty-farty

Do you mean lines like this? The lines going diagonally down the blend which you can see in the white bits?

It's not a brush, it's a pattern. I used Photoshop to create the pattern...what do you use? I imagine it's the same for other programs too.

1. Open a new blank image. 5x5px. Zoom in as far as you can go.
2. Open another new blank image. 1x1px. Zoom in as far as you can go.
3. Fill the smaller square with black.
Like so = One

4. Drag the smaller 1x1 filled box into the larger box and place them in a diagonal line.
Like so = Two

5. Go to Edit>Define Pattern. Name it and that's it done! (Hopefully.)

6. To try it out select the image you want to add the pattern to. Then go to Edit>Fill> and choose your pattern that you just made.
Like so = Three

7. Click of and then your image should have the diagonal lines going across it.
Example = Four.

Hope that helps! :=]
