65 pounds?!! crickey, now THAT's surreal. and i cracked up at the mattress shopping part and it's near midnight here, where everyone's gone to bed..
and The Wallflower. that was a weird one. cute, at times poignant, and all in all funny and romantic--everything i love. but the actress bothered me for reasons unknown (maybe because i'm shallow and the actress wasn't that pretty but that was the point of the entire storyline, nee? or was it that the whole goth/bright thing was just too weird for my taste? hmm)
you've been watching all those movies and slacking on your robrae fiction. (would you believe i actually came to your LJ to reread your scogue scraps? haha) bad bad em. tsk tsk. everyone's taking a haitus from RR and it kinda shows on FFNET. being a relative nobody, i have no right to criticize but some of those summaries really made me laugh. Where is everybody???
as for TLA, i can't believe you have expectations for that film. i told myself i would never watch it. firstly, they're all mostly nonasian, which to an asian, is sacrilegious. secondly, zuko must always be linked with dante basco. no sexy voice = less sexy zuko which is obviously not as nice as omgsexy!zuko. but i'm glad you've been having a good time ;D
Yeah, you know, 65 pounds sounds like a lot, but over the course of 10 months, it's been very subtle, so it doesn't feel like that much until I see a picture of myself back in August of last year or try to put on a pair of pants or shorts that I wasn't able to fit into back then, and yet now they are so big I can slip them on and off without unbuttoning or unzipping.
THANKS!
Were you talking about the Wallflower live action drama? The Wallflower that I wrote and posted up already is based off the anime, which has them still in high school as opposed to in college like in the drama and there are several other changes. I've read the manga and the anime which are alike and seen the live action, which makes some allowances for the kind of silliness in the anime that they can't really do in a live action without a large budget for special effects.
I liked the drama alright, but I'll admit it was mostly because of Kyohei, so yeah, I am a little shallow in that way too, so I understand. Probably the prettiest actress I've seen in JDrama has got to be the actress for Kimi Wa Petto. I'd so have a girl crush on her. (And the main guy in it is from Hana Yori Dango only he looks much cuter in Kimi Wa Petto).
Probably the cutest guys I've seen in all of the live action drama I've watched are in the Korean "You're Beautiful".
The best actress I've seen (not necessarily in looks, but in her acting - although she's not ugly, but kind of plain looking) is in the Korean "Personal Taste"
So, as you can see, I've also been slacking off on my RobRae fic with watching asian drama. Hehe...
Oh yeah? You read my Scogue scraps? That's great! I don't remember if anyone's commented on those at all! I'd love to know what you thought about them!
But yes...I have been a bit of a bad RobRae writer recently. I've been wanting to write, but not really able to get into the headspace for any of my ongoing stuff. So...*shrug*. I'll have to keep poking and prodding at the muse and see if he'll cough up some inspiration...
I'd heard about all the controversies with TLA and I really agree about the non-asian-ness of them all and how that totally sucked. But I still had hopes for it considering it's a big budgets production of a favorite show, and I'm constantly being hopeful that way, I guess. They kind of looked the part, mostly -- Sokka most of all, I thought -- but their acting was kind of bad. Not as bad as, say, the kid in Star Wars Episode I or the one who eventually played teen/adult Anakin in those, I mean, his acting was just AWFUL. These kids acting was like not very practiced...like Wil Smith's son in Karate Kid and all his little co-stars had better acting skills than they did, but I know they're all unknowns, so I'm hoping that with some practice, they'll get better.
One of the main things that upset me about TLA was the way they used Katara's voiceover to explain away whole chunks of story. I understand they HAD to do that, or they'd have several movies for each Book, but still...it kind of annoyed me when it happened.
As a side note: I totally agree for sexy-voice Zuko. ^_^
