How to track my journey: the website is http://www.trainweb.org/capt/AmtrakMapsForward.html. This is a site run by a railfan/computer geek. It scrapes train status off the Amtrak site and presents it in a much more helpful form than Amtrak does. My trains are #449 Boston-Albany, #49 Albany-Chacago, #5 Chicago-Denver. Returning, it's #6 Denver-Chicago, #48 Chicago-Albany, and #448 Albany-Boston. If a train's status is "overdue", that's much much less alarming than such a status for an airplane would be.

I've been tracking ontime status for these trains for a while now, and based on the data I've collected, it's anybody's guess as to when I'll be anywhere. #448 is scheduled to take 95 minutes to get from Framingham to Boston, and it still manages to be late.
