Let's just say I'm glad I don't live in New England because I've been through a few nor'easter's and they are nothing to joke about. In 1996 we had one that stuck around for three days, brought three feet of snow, buried the house and the car, and we didj't get out for five days - the guy who used to plow back then broke his truck trying to clear the snow the first time out.
Currently, Here in Chez Hairball Land We only got about six inches of snow Friday/Saturday and another 2- 3 inches overnight into today. It's still snowing, but should end in soon. Our neighbor bought a plow attachment for his three-wheeler and has been happily zipping around on it for the last two days, so everything is plowed open. I stayed home today (worked yesterday) and watched it snow - the roads are crappy and will be until the DOT has a chance to get in there and really scape them clear. Everything's slick and freezing as it hits the pavement/road/whatever.
Been an interesting couple of weeks. I finally stopped bitching about my stiff joints which don't get better when I move and which stiffen right back up the minute I sit down, not to mention painful finger joint nodes, and went to the rheumatologist in November. Many tests later, I have been diagnosed with the start of rheumatoid arthritis and am on Plaquenil to stop the joint damage - hopefully. One of the things I also had done was a bone density test and my bones are fine everywhere, except my neck, which apparently is osteopenic, though I'm showing no vertebral abnormalities anywhere. I'm going to have to start doing load-bearing exercises and change the way I eat completely - I eat very little in the way of either leafy green vegetables (I've TRIED TO LIKE THEM) OR calcium loaded dairy products. I forsee a lot of supplements in my future. I don't know how people like Colin Morgan do it on a vegetarian diet. I think vegetables and fruits are pretty to look at and lord knows, I 've tried cooking them in ways that taste good, but meh. I still can't stand them. Most veggies taste like dirt to me and most fruits are so sour I can't even...WAAAHWAHHHH!!! OH, the complaints of the white bread and privileged, I know :) Poor me, having to find a way to eat fruits and veggies. I am researching recipes and vitamin supplements.
