Why are our less hazardous ports so distinctly European of late?

This is preferable to disease-riddled dinosaurs, I suppose. Though not by mu

Hardly. Though it is an experience to see France as she is in a time more akin to your own, Severus, my home has and always shall be in the south of France.

I can attest that, after so much time spent away from Britain, the precise location hardly mattered to me when I returned.

Then again, I have no particular affinity for Cokeworth.

Plans?

Shopping and food, predominantly. There are also... a few locations that I feel would be appropriate for me to visit.

I'm wishing we'd arrived further south, where the real culture is. However, as I understand it, La Coste the village still stands but my chateau is a veritable ruin. And I've no real desire to see Charenton again.

I can imagine you would no more wish to see Charenton than your inmate - or mine, for that matter - would wish to see Azkaban.

If he attempts to escape, incidentally, tell him there is no wizarding world here. True or not, he'll come running back if he suspects such a thing.

And where might he expect to run? I can actually track him when we're in port.

It is not as though I fail to sympathize with his plight. I've run from the law many a time myself. I simply hope he will not try. It would be nice if this port could be spent relaxing.

You would be surprised what absurd ideas appeal to inmates. You, I recall, vented your frustrations with literary pursuits. Some of us are not quite so skilled with quill and ink and find it necessary to act out.

Then again, he is still quite new. Perhaps it will be some time before he forgets that the Barge is far better than where he was.

I suppose it's quite difficult to do that with it raining in the corridors and with ghostly apparitions constantly rousing one.

I certainly hope the Admiral keeps his word and fixes all of that; it was growing rather tiresome.

Needless to say, I intend to keep Monsieur Malfoy very busy during port. Renate has not decided whether she likes him yet, but he was rather...negative during our first meeting. They'll have time to bond. [Yes, he brought his dog]

Given the past two Halloweens, I'm not holding out hope that all of this will simply go away.

You brought along your pet?

Naturally! She needs the outing just as much as I do.

Lucius has dogs, hasn't he? Peculiar that Renate dislikes him.

She is very protective after the incident with Sexby.

Understandable.

I understand Mozenrath brought the Rowling books directly to you.

Yes. Quick reads, so far.

This author seems to have an especially over-optimistic view of mothers.

As for Renate, she is of a better disposition after the last confrontation, I suppose because she successfully reversed an attack. But she is still rather unfond of people she suspects are likewise not fond of me.

I didn't realise Lucius was less than fond of you. In particular, that is. He warms ever so slightly with time. Decades, usually.

How far have you come with the novels? [Ignooooring that comment about mothers.]

He left my chambers angry, at any rate.

I'm half-finished with the second.

I can't imagine what you might have done to upset him.
