No doubt I have seemed somewhat less than talkative to the population at large. Many of you are more than aware of my lack of regard for social niceties, but if the rest of you have felt slighted in some way, you have my apologies. I suggest you grow a thicker skin.I've been rather preoccupied with what I am setting now to paper, and with my own ( Read more... )

I think if someone's been rehabilitated, they deserve the chance to prove themselves more than what they were. Past issues notwithstanding, they could be really well suited to someone.

And if past issues continue?

Then they need someone to stop them and say, "Take a look at yourself." I think even those that came in as wardens need that sometimes.

Precisely.

I believe it is the responsibility of the wardens to say this.

Thus, I am encouraging it.

Would you agree that there are wardens who might be too weak of character to be assigned an inmate, given that they might cause more harm than good?

Mind you, I am not questioning the Admiral's judgment. Rather, I am simply asking whether we, as their colleagues, ought to allow people to run roughshod over inmates.

If it continues beyond the transitional period?

There are very few on this ship that I trust, but Parker and Maguire are both fine individuals.

However, my concern is more concertedly directed at those who fall both into the category of graduated inmate and that of poor judgment.

It is far easier to keep an eye on those who abuse authority than those who simply create environments which are non-conducive to rehabilitation. Forcing an inmate who fears the infirmary to visit the infirmary, for example - or creating a situation in which the inmate's emotional needs are secondary to those of the warden's.

Half of us have agreed to serve on an interdimensional starship run by an as of yet unseen potential madman. Despite relatively regular departures, there continues to be many of us on board; we have a choice, either to accept that there are reasons the Admiral has brought us aboard as inmate or warden, or to leave. That choice extends to why he allows those who have graduated to stay on and become wardens.

Logical as always, T'Pol.

Tell me: after I graduated, if I'd expressed a desire to see you lose all that you love - in that capacity which you may love, of course - would you have denounced my rehabilitation?

Expressing a desire and acting on it are very different. If it was an expression, no. If it was more, I doubt you would have been otherwise ready to graduate.

An interesting conundrum, isn't it?
