[Snape decided to take a pass on heading back out into town today, what with all the pretendy witches running around. Instead, he's practicing some magic on himself and is recording his efforts. He's gotten a bit tired of his arm being in a sling ( Read more... )

Go to the infirmary, get a dose of Demerol, and bring it to me.

Do not tell Dr. Jones. Do I make myself clear?

Okay.

The advantage of being a warden was that people asked fewer questions. It was also the advantage of Dr. Jones not being the doctor in the infirmary at the moment, so he didn't have to worry about her finding out he was asking for Snape. A few minutes later, Tony was knocking on Snape's door.

"Yes, yes, come in!" he shouted at the door, frustrated that he sudden had an onslaught of questions regarding his current state of health. He hadn't meant to do what he'd done; he'd recorded his practice trials with healing magic for posterity. If he'd known he would be missing several tendons at the end of the attempt, he'd have remembered to make it private.

Tony rushed in, seeing... "Oh, shit!" Tony stared for a moment, frozen. "Uh...I think you might need more than this stuff," he said, holding up the Demerol. Then he opened the lid and held it out. "...but you'll need this, too."

Snape took the medication with a scowl and applied it as Martha had done when he first came by the injury to his arm. "I realize I'll need more than this stuff."

Well, the pain would go away, at least. He could spend his next fifteen minutes of consciousness trying to come up with a way to fix the new issue he'd created.

He motioned with his good arm to the medical texts occupying the nearest bookshelf. "Help me, if you would."

It was the closest he was going to come to saying "please" today.

"Uh...I know a heal--I should probably try one of yours." Snape's were probably worlds better. Flipping through the books, Tony tried to find something that would work. "Uh...I don't think we have time for a potion. Or for me to learn something new."

Tony rushed back over to Snape, lifting his hands and said, "In advance? I'm really, really sorry." With that, he cast the spell. His heart pounded in his chest from the strain of the spell, but Snape's shoulder would begin to knit itself together, but all the pain he would experience from this wound was condensed, magnifying it to an incredible level. But it would heal, and after experiencing enough pain to make any sane person question if it was worth it, that, too, would fade in a few minutes.

Snape only had time to respond to Tony's apology with "Wha-?" before the pain began. Now, mind, Snape had never exactly been a stranger to pain. His own death had been particularly excruciating.

This, however, was unbearable. In the shock and suddenness of it, he started to scream.

Tony winced when he heard Snape's screams, but he knew that this was the best he could do. If he'd tried to learn one of Snape's spells under this pressure, he'd have no time to test it and would have likely only done more damage. Especially if Snape himself had screwed up his own healing spell this badly. Then it was over. The pain Snape felt would start to fade, and Tony felt...hungry. His stomach growled.

He stopped yelling as soon as the pain subsided and, after a moment of looking completely floored, used his newly healed arm to chuck a book at Tony.

"Some warning would have been appreciated!" he shouted, then paled. He'd left the audio feed on. Martha was going to think Tony had just tried to murder him. She was going to come running, because that was what Martha did.

He shot Tony an exasperated look and pointed to the door. "Get out before someone comes and tries to arrest one of us."

Tony yelped, jumping out of the way of the book. "Not sure how to warn for that!"

And then Snape told him to get out before someone tried to arrest one of them, so he did, hurrying out of the room. It probably sounded like Snape was being murdered in that room, after all.
