Melbourne Mardi Gras
Ok, I've been hearing a lot of shit about this over the last few days and I'm just sick of it. Everyone is up in arms over here because Hillsong (a Christian church over here that has made a big name for itself in the music business) had a float in the Melbourne Mardi Gras this year.
Well, good on them! If they want to preach to the homosexuals of Melbourne, telling them that God really does love them I think they should be allowed. But the fact that other churches are now breaking rank with Hillsong is horrible.
I made the huge mistake of bringing it up at my Nan's only to be told by her sister that 'a friend of the world is an enemy of God'. Huh? 'God is love', 'Do unto others as you would have done unto you', 'Love thy neighbour'.
Is any of this ringing a bell?
It really is moments like those where I just feel like telling them I'm bi. The thing that made it worst is that my cousin is sitting next to me nodding in agreement to our great-aunt and she herself is gay! I just get so frustrated...
