There’s quite a bit that I could say about this movie, but I’m not sure that I want to overanalyze it. I enjoyed it, and Eva Green is always wonderful (and beautiful), and I could so easily declare that the whole thing is about censorship and nothing else. Instead, here’s a drabble that does not say nearly as much as I would like it to, as much as I think it could.
untitled the dreamers drabble (PG-13)
Matthew got used to waking up all over the apartment without any recollection of falling asleep there. He got used to waking up among a collection of empty wineglasses and books with worn-out pages. He got used to waking up with two eyes trained on him and being unable to tell if they belonged to Theo or Isabelle.
He got used to being there, to being the third, to seeing Theo’s hand on Isabelle’s leg, to feeling Theo’s hand on his leg, to not knowing whose mouth his was pressed against.
(He got used to not wanting to ever leave.)
Also, I just watched the pilot for The Black Donnellys and I'm kicking myself over it. I didn't quite realize that it was going to be on Mondays at 10, and I had to give up Studio 60 in that time slot because I couldn't keep up with it, and I don't know how I'm going to follow this show. But hey, I was having too much fun to ignore it. (They need to smoke more cigarettes, though. Real Irishmen always have either a drink or a cigarette in their hands. This is possibly all I have learned from a semester-plus of Irish literature classes.)
