I could tell the day was going to be in shambles from the moment my eyes adjusted to the light. I had been rustled ever so un-peacefully from slumber by the galloping of Felix and Rusty playfully attempting to maim one another. I took zero solace in the fact that they would be leaving in a mere week, as the alarm clock read 9am. It was my last day off before returning to the drama-filled reality of my job, and already I had been denied a solid night of rest.
It took awhile to get my bearings straight once out of bed. With Sandra moving shortly, the apartment resembled a poorly maintained storage locker with boxes strewn throughout the apartment. She had, quite obviously decided to disregard the fact that there was indeed a human being still living in the dwelling. Sandra rarely thought outside her own box, despite persistently arguing otherwise. She was a curious breed of self-righteousness and human compassion. I couldn't help but wonder if she herself realized what a catastrophic combination her personality was. It had ruined two promising lives without any contemplation or regard. Now, as I stared through the balcony window at the snow-dusted roofs, I wondered with much melancholy if anything could be salvaged from this shipwreck.
My hatred for her seemed to multiply each day, with new demands regarding our living arrangements surfacing each day. The daily dosage of ammonia-soaked feces wafting from room to room, served only to intensify these feelings. Yet somewhere, tucked neatly been the bitter cold folds of my loathing, I still loved her...
