Lol continuity

So I was watching AVP2 just now... I liked it.
What I love more though is how the whole Alien storyline which I'm so fond of was fucked up INCREDIBLY badly by the first AVP movie.

Allow me to explain,
AVP1 is set in 2004, with Charles Bishop Weyland (of Weyland Yutani) on some big search to find an ancient structure underground blah blah blah, shit goes wrong, most of the characters die.
In the end of the movie, he selflessly sacrifices himself trying to stop the Predator from killing some other stupid character.

Now, this is all well and good... but consider the movie series for Alien (ie. Alien, Aliens, Alien 3). The character Bishop in this is an Android of the exact same appearance, and in the third movie the REAL Bishop (who looks exactly the same) appears and is a complete jerk and wants to preserve the Alien inside Ripley. So I guess I was initially irked by the fact that he was out of character in AVP1, but I digress.

"Okay, why can't Alien 3 be set before AVP?", You ask.
That's a good question, but the answer is... Alien 2 is set 57 years after Alien(1), and Alien 3 is set some unknown time after that... and the first movie IS SET IN THE YEAR 2122!! TWENTY ONE-TWENTY TWO!
And no, I will not accept "But maybe the Bishop in Alien 3 was also an Android"... cos that's a stupid answer; Ripley would have called him on his lie straight away (considering that the co-founder of Weyland-Yutani Industries would have been dead for a good 175 years if he were lying).

Disgraceful.
