( She is sitting out on a bench with a beer. It's nice, being back on Earthrise - then again, that is a big storm.

What to do? Eh. She'll just keep chilling, for now. ) Pretty.

Speedy, darling. How are you? ( She leans her head away from the slap, wincing just slightly, but in a good natured kind of way. ) I storms, so long as I don't have to fly in them.

[ He grins and raises his own beer bottle, shaking it a bit. Hopping over the bench and flopping on it, he clinks their bottles together and leans his forearms on his knees, taking a sip of the beer before looking up. ]

Yeah? I rather like storms.

( Jules grins, pushing her hair out of her face. ) Cheers.

( Eyeing the storm, she tilts her head and sips her beer. ) That's because you are happy-go-lucky and speedy. I am an optimist, but much less crazy.

( :3 ) I mean, happy-go-lucky.

[ He laughs and rolls his eyes. ]

Well, Ensign -- ( and she nudges with her shoulder ) I suppose there's a bit of a thrill, here and there.

( Oh, who's she kidding? ) It is better than chocolate, I suppose. I'd give it that.

[ Grinning in accomplishment, John leans back and raises his beer in a silent cheer, then puts his arms on the backrest of the bench. He's usually the kind of guy that doesn't get along very well with others, especially superiors (some kind of frustrated teenager), but he's a good pilot, a very good pilot, so they keep him. And Jules is not particularly the sort of person he gets along with, but go figure. ]

It's nice ter put our feet on the ground once in a while, though.

Definitely. And it's very nice to breathe fresh air, feel a breeze that isn't generated by a machine. ( She stretches, back arching and arms extended to benefit from the drops of rain starting to pitter-patter a little more heavily. ) Change is good. It's excellent, really.

( She grins at him, sipping more of her drink. ) Got any plans while you're here?

[ He shakes his head. ] Not really. I'm just gonna walk 'round for a while and rest, yer know?

[ He points his beer at her. ]

And wot 'bout ye? Wotcher gonna do?

That like rather a nice plan, truth be told.

( And she chuckles into her beer. ) Watching storms is about the only thing on my agenda, at the moment. Dash into town, maybe, see about interacting with people not in the fleet. It's hard thinking what that's like, really.

[ He hums and nods, although he doesn't seem interested in interacting. He's not very good with interacting unless it's to cause trouble. He isn't an anti-social kind of person, truth to be told, but he's a bit selective about the people he calls friends. Back here, on Earthrise, there's little for him. ]

It ain't like we got much time here anyway.

( She gives him a brief look, curious, but doesn't comment. She's certainly one of the more chipper, upbeat pilots on the fleet - considered whimsical and clueless by some, without a grasp of the gravity of what they do - but she does have more idea than some give her credit for.

Rather than pushing it, she shrugs amiably. ) No. Besides, we have much nicer views from the Asgardreid, anyway. Clear skies anyway you look.

Yeah, but yer gotta admit there's some folk who prefer ter be home. And then there're some that like ter be anywhere. [ John takes a sip of the drink, the last part, and settles the bottle down on the floor, under the bench. ] I just like flyin'.

Mmm. I don't mind being anywhere, so long as my family are there. ( Freddie's on the ship, so are Vijay and Greg, and they're as good as brother's. Charlotte and Walter are on Earthrise, more often than not, since that's where her father's currently stationed.

Still, she looks at John, smiling softly. ) It suits you. Nothing to hold you back, no limits, just the sky to explore. ( Well. She pauses, laughs, and sips her beer. ) Nothing except for the higher ups, but metaphorically it all sounds beautiful.

[ He glances at her and snorts, but doesn't say anything. His family... well, he would rather ignore their existence.

But, subject change. That's better. He shrugs a bit at her and nods, tilting his head up and watching the thunder roar distantly, rubbing her nose. He scratches his jaw and turns to Jules. ]

I can't do anythin' else, anyway.
