( Excuse him as he lowers the battered book he's reading, and looks towards the window, letting out a low whistle. )

Uh oh. That ain't looking like good souffle weather.

[ And she is sitting next to him, holding a warm cup of tea. She peeks at the large window as well, frowning slightly. ]

Space storm. [ Sitting better in her chair, she sighs. ] Looks bad.

( A cheery glance, and he shrugs. ) Nah. This is nothing.

( And he looks back down at his book, before looking out the window again. ) Maybe a little bad. But pretty, right? Storms are pretty?

[ She makes a non-committal sound, bringing the mug to her lips and blowing on it before taking a sip. Looking rather distant for a while, but then she looks at Greg and nods. ]

It is beautiful. Doesn't mean that it isn't bad.

( Ah, yes. He nods sagely. ) Sounds like most of my exes.

[ She glances at him, not looking impressed, but then a smile betrays her, trying to hide it behind her mug. ]

Is it jam season already?

Susannah likes pilots.

( . . . ) About five or six pilots.

( OH WELL. He shrugs, overly casual. Jules let him know when she found out, but ow. )

[ She smiles a little and laces an arm around his shoulder, squeezing it gently. ] I'm sorry. [ She wasn't particularly fond of Susannah, but that was not her business. Always thought she looked way too much at the pilots too. ] It's her loss, anyway.

( Giving a little laugh, Greg shakes his head. ) It's fine. Stings a bit, but hey, heartbreak gives these vultures more jam than they can shake a stick at.

( And then, another grin as he stretches. ) Speaking of horror and pilots, has Ego been sniffing around in here again? He stopped by the other day to get a cup of sugar. ( huurrrhurrrhurr )

[ She laughs a little at that and shakes her head, shifting to sit a bit better and then takes another sip of the tea. At least the pilots can't complain about the lack of food, that much is true. She never thought she would end up in a military ship, but her twins (who she misses terribly) are back on Earthrise and they need for her to provide for them.

A bit distraught by sudden thoughts of her children, Em blinks and turns to Greg. ] What? [ Who?

Oh. ]

Ah, I don't know. [ A shrugs a little. ] I think I saw him yesterday but I was making dinner. Why? Do you need anything from him?

( That distant distraction makes him pout in an odd, thoughtful sort of way, hmming to himself before ruffling her hair. ) You okay, Millie?

( Eh, he shrugs, dismissive. ) Nah, no way. I was just gonna make fun of you. Because, 'cup of sugar' was a euphemism. ( A beat. ) For him probably wanting to hit on you.

[ Em smooths her hair after he ruffles it, brushing some behind her ear. She smiles and shakes her head, turning the cup in her hands. ]

Ah. [ She frowns at that, looking at the mug in her hands. She looks at the storm outside again and rolls her eyes, ] He's very pretty, but pretty bad too. [ A bit of a smile. ] Doesn't look like the kind of person I would want around my Matthias and Chloe.

( Pushing himself up out the chair, he ambles easily to heat up some more water, before pointing to her mug. ) Refill?

( Haahh. Greg nods, idly scratching his jaw. ) You're not wrong. My friend -- Jules? ( he knew her pre-fleet, none of that 'Starling' business for him ) she dated him. I think she counts him in the mistakes column. ( A shake of his head, and he starts poking around for coffee things. )

I'm good, thank you.

[ She smiles at him and watches as he speaks, nodding slightly. She squints, trying to remember. Jules, Jules...? ] Oh, the Lieutenant? Starling? [ She is still a bit new on the Asgardreid, doesn't know that many people. ] Hmm. Thanks for the heads up.

[ Em sips some more of her tea and then settles it on the table, crossing her arms on it. ]

So, what about you and the Lieutenant? Were you together?

( A nod for acknowledgement, and he's clattering around as he goes. )

Yeah, Starling. ( Laughing. He thinks call signs are funny. ) It's funny that her call sign is longer than her name. ( Okay, not Julia, but still. ) No problem. I could give you a detailed assessment of all eligible bachelors and bachelorette's on the ship, practically. ( ... almost true.

s l o w l y t u r ns.

And starts laughing. ) Jules? No way, man, she's like my sister. ( bahahahaha )

I think most call signs are just to be unique.

[ Em looks at Greg and arches her eyebrows. ] A detailed assessment. [ She laughs and shakes her head, waving her hand dismissively. ] No, that's fine. I have two babies, I don't have time for bachelors.

[ And then a laugh. ] Oh, sorry. You know each other so well, I just assumed.
