[Boy, Jerry is not used to going out at night. Not when you've lived in a ghost town with the threat of occasional stray monsters or hybrids walking about. Sure the cities are supposed to be a safe haven from them, but all these people and their pasts and futures mashed up in one place just promise a massive headache if he chooses to stay for long.

That, and he's never been too familiar with the concept of nightlife. Shockingly.]

[ Nightlife! It isn't too difficult. Or so Teagan wouldn't really think, stepping out of a quiet, unassuming bar, taking a moment to breathe in the night air before continuing onto the street. She doesn't notice Jerry immediately, but when she does she stops, raising a hand in greeting, coupled with a warm smile. ]

[What a pleasant surprise! But when isn't it? More often than not, because it's not that easy to surprise him. Jerry offers that typical squinty-ish smile, lowering his head as a way of greeting her, leaving words for when they're actually within hearing distance.

Which should be any second now.]

Good evening, Teagan.

Evening. [ She turns towards him, a familiar sense of relaxation washing over her - and a little relief. In a place like this, and a world like theirs, not seeing someone for a while can sometimes be a little worrying. She can't help feeling that way, sometimes. ] It's been a while, Jerry. How are you?

Same as ever. Nothing to worry about. [If his words are vague, his tone leans towards the positive.] And how are you?

[stillthegirl]

I'm glad. [ Positive is good. ] As for me, I'm fine - also the same as ever. [ She casts a brief glance over her shoulder at the bar she came from, somewhat amused. ] Exploring, you might say.

[wouldntthatbe]

Oh? Good. [small talk is always awkward with him, isn't it? That's how he should feel when he isn't exactly predisposed to leaving her by herself but really just wants to find his way out of the city as soon as possible. Exploring wouldn't really get the job done.] How is that working out?

[stillthegirl]

[ Teagan understands Jerry's discomfort here. Sort of. At least, she remembers that Jerry isn't the most keen on crowded or populated places. Why? Still no idea. Either way, she wouldn't exactly be surprised by him wanting to leave sooner rather than later. ]

Not too terribly, but I don't know if bars are really for me. [ Her expression is a little rueful, a little amused by her own presumptions. ] It's a pleasant change to be around other people, but it's hardly as exciting as I thought it might be.

That's a shame. [He remembers liking to be around other people in general, crowds, despite his very unremarkable... self. Somehow that meant it shouldn't work out too well in his mind, which only gives more excuses to choose solitude.] I hope no one has caused any trouble...

So far, no. [ Teagan smiles, a little broadly, in a slightly self-satisfied manner. ] Mind you, I reckon I could discourage anyone who feels like giving me trouble with relative ease.

[ Since it's Teagan, the implication of her words is not at all threatening, perhaps almost a little sorry for hypothetical troublemakers - she's quite good at twist people's arms behind their backs, nowadays. Good deterrant. ]

[ new AU: Teagan owns the best launderette in all of town ]

No, not at all. [ A little pause. ] I could ask you the same, though?

[ You can say it, Jerry. She's not going to resent you for it, as much as she likes your company. It's not the end of the world. ]

Of course not. I was just... [He stops after an attempt to point in some direction, dropping his hand uselessly.] I'm not sure where I was headed.

And by "where", do you mean a direction or a destination?

[he pauses, then drops his shoulders.] ... Both, I suppose.
