Way past time, I know...

Lots happening, and can't even recall what was going on the last time I updated this thing, so we'll go with what I *can* remember, 'k?

One of our older kittens/young cats, Pepper, was adopted last weekend. We drove her out to Ames, Iowa to meet Jenna, whose mom is adopting her. She also adopted Pepper's brother, Ginger, and Jenna has the other brother, Whiskey, so the little catfamily is kind of reunited.
Another kitty we never thought would get a home is Jean laFitte. He was a feral cat with numerous health issues as relate to the feral-ness. We got him sorted as much as possible, but he'll always have a bad limp (from his rear leg which had been broken, and with no medical treatment at the time, healed rather badly) and he'd lost an eye from who-knows-what. So many bad things befall feral cats! Anyway, the excellent news is that someone fell head over heels in love with him. He IS the sweetest cat on the planet. It's as if he's just so grateful to have been rescued, and he's going to spend all his days showing just how grateful he is.
Two mamacats with 5 kittens each came in. Both mamas (Cilla and Charlotte)are torties, and both were abandoned. I so wish I could find the people that DO this...it's illegal here in Illinois, and inhumane everywhere.
One litter (Nipper, Tango, Parker, Carter, and Star) was about 5 weeks old when we got them, and all are now ready for adoption. In fact, two (Nipper and Star) have already been adopted. The second litter (Mae, Harlow, Muggins, Luna, and Winter) was about 3 weeks old, so we need to keep them for a bit longer. Damn, are they ever adorable!

Friends from Bristol, UK (girfan) and (hirez)were in town overnight for a visit. Not enough time to spend with them, but great to see them. girfan looks fabulous! (And yes, hirez, you look lovely, as well!) Got to see the beautiful night sky from one of the "International Dark Sky Sites"
...who knew of such? Apparently, I live at one of these sites. Interesting.

Got my flu shot Friday afternoon, so I can tick that off my to-do list. Shoulder is a bit sore, but less so than I expected. Of course, the *other* shoulder hurts quite a lot, as I managed to fall down a short flight of steps, and that shoulder took the brunt of the fall. Living on Advil for now.

Cooked some nummy home-made tomato/basil/parmesan soup. Thought about doing a loaf of rustic-type bread to go with it, but the shoulder... makes the kneading less than comfortable.

Three, count 'em THREE!, new crias at work. All boys, when we were hoping for girls, but still so, so cute! Madison has a cinnamon coloured boy called Ike (I know, I know...but I wasn't in charge of the naming), Indi has a little espresso coloured baby named Columbus (born on Columbus day, so appropriate, I suppose, and Kennedy's new little guy, born two weeks early, is a white baby with the moniker Roosevelt. All three babies are the same colour as their mams..none took after the papas.

Opted out of attending the local halloween parade this evening. it's a HUGE deal here in town, and so, so crowded. I just didn't feel like dealing with so many people this evening. Planing a quiet Samhain gathering in a local wood tomorrow night. I really hope the weather holds. Currently, it's about 60 and clear skies.

And now...off to become horizontal on the sofa!
