Second question: after years of mother-related highlighting trauma, I might finally be ready to do something different with my hair color. The problem is, I don't know what and I don't know how to approach that if I make a hair appointment. I generally get my hair cut at the local Aveda beauty school and while they're complete supervised and I don't think an instructor would let them do something crazy to my hair, I don't know if I want to go in and ask "what do you think would look best" either. Thoughts? I have enough hair color related trauma already, I don't want to make it worse. But I really do want to do SOMETHING.
Ha, so I'm actually thinking of going into the local beauty school for hair color. So you can encourage me to do that and I can let you know how it goes?
(Not that they'd be identical experiences, but you know.)
I want to go a little lighter! Which I've wanted for a while, but couldn't really figure out . . . uh, where to go, what to do? Then I finally thought of the beauty school!
do you want to do your whole hair new color? or do you want to do something like what I did? which is more highlights, only a shade or two lighter than your own and blended around?
I say the second, and my hair stylist talked a lot with me about it before we did it, because if you don't like it, it's pretty easy to color over again. you don't normally have to bleach a lot, if any, if you're just doing one or two shades lighter. and you won't notice your roots grow out so much. AND, it's not a huge shock because it's close to your hair color.
Probably just highlights of some kind. I'm just not sure if I want to take my hair blonder or not. The idea of doing more reddish ones has stuck with me for awhile now, so maybe that? But I don't know. Which is why it also seems like a terrible idea because if I don't know what I want, should I do it at all? And how do I even know what to make an appointment FOR? (This is the service menu. I wouldn't know what to book!)
I think the idea of red ones is super pretty! And really nice for fall/winter!!! I didn't know what I wanted, I just knew I wanted something a bit different. So I don't think it's a bad idea at all.
Looking at the menu, I would think you'd ask for simple if you're only doing one color. Also it probably depends on how many sections you're highlighting. Simple is a few strands, partial probably like half your head type deal all lover. Full is gonna be like I'm doing MANY strands of your hair all over, so I need more color AND the foil, and maybe more than just one color. Like I have one color, but my Mom has three colors in her hair, so it's more expensive for her than me.

I don't think a student would mess it up.
