In an instant, things can change. Jeremy knows this better than almost anyone.
In an instant, he went from being a son to being an orphan. In an instant, he forgot why he was in so much pain after Vicki disappeared. In an instant, he fell in love with Anna’s smile. In an instant, he lost her, too.
Too many things have happened to him in an instant for him not to know.
So when he looks at Bonnie, looks at her and really sees her for the first time, he’s not surprised when he falls. The fall is something he knows.
But it surprises him how different what he feels for her is. He thought he’d loved Vicki and Anna, he knows what he felt for them was real. It hurt too much when he lost them both for it not to have been real. But what he feels for Bonnie - he knows, without question that she has the power to break his heart in ways that neither of them ever did. Ever could have.
Bonnie can destroy him. Jeremy knows this, and chooses it anyway.
Some things are worth getting your heart broken for. She’s one of them.
