Craigslist - Sketch-o-Rama

Well, my perusal of Craigslist finally paid off. I was sick of seeing offers for couches that I didn't know anything about, so I decided to search for a specific couch model. I picked the Ektorp, from Ikea, which we bought for Quad's gameroom. I found it to be a very comfortable, versatile couch. Also a plus is the fact that Ikea sells multiple slipcovers for it, so I wouldn't have to get it reupholstered or anything like that. I saw an ad for the sofa I wanted, the guy was asking $200. That was a little high, but i figured I'd go check it out anyway. So I went to see the couch, and it was fine, in good condition. The guy was really chatty, so I ended up talking to him about my job, your work overseas, what I was interested in, etc. etc. So I said I would take the couch, but I cleverly asked "So what are you asking for it? I can't remember from the website." He said he was asking $100. Heh, fine by me. So I said I would take it, and that I'd be back later once i found my friend with a pickup truck. I got Barry and Philip to help me out (Barry has a pickup) and we got ready to drive back. Right before i called the guy, he called me and asked "May I have the pleasure of taking you out to dinner tomorrow night?" AAACK! First of all, he was old and a little bit weird/creepy in a loner sort of way, and second of all, GROSS, OLD. Anyway I said Oh... I have a boyfriend but I'd like to come by to get the couch! We drove over and loaded it up. So odd. I'm washing the ugly slipcovers now (they are beige... BLAH). Then I decided to go to Ikea to get new covers, but they cost between $70 (for vastly unpractical white) - $170 for a pattern! Since I just paid $100 for the couch, there was no way I was paying almost that much for the damn cover. I will get one off eBay.

Pete is very intrigued with the couch, he keeps poking his nose in all the nooks and crannies. I also got an end table to serve as a coffee table. i don't know how I feel about it, so I may put it in my "reading nook" area.

Oh yes, and it is finally spring in Cali, I got verbally harassed at the gas station today. Hooray for sketchy men who think they are entitled to hitting on people just trying to get gas, dammit!
