Y'ello, all- how's it gellin'?
...
*snicker*
...
Well then, at this time tomorrow I should be partying with a bunch of old people from my church; I'm soo looking forward to this!!!
...
The stress of tomorrow's voice jury must be getting to me. Damn German words- I seriously just have to sit down and say the 'poems' over and over again, until I don't have to look at my cheat sheet. I think it's a matter of confidence on my part here. I know the tunes and the English one by heart, it's just the German text that I can't remember where to place. Somebody pray for me; or at least light a candle...
So, today's hymn is one of those gigue-like Advent hymns I like so much. I'm taking the text strait from the hymnal, 'cause the page with the hynms doesn't have it. So, here's me typing this out when I should be practicing, yet I'm still further procrastinating... heh...
Comfort, Comfort Ye My People
Comfort, comfort ye my people,
speak ye peace, thus saith our God;
comfort those who sit in darkness
mourning 'neath their sorrow's load.
Speak ye to Jerusalem
of the peace that waits for them;
tell her that her sins I cover,
and her warfare now is over.
Hark, the voice of one that crieth
in the desert far and near;
calling us to new repentance
since the kingdom now is here.
Oh, that warning cry obey!
Now prepare for God away;
let the valleys rise to meet him
and the hills bow down to greet him.
Mark ye strait what long was crooked,
make the rougher places plain;
let your hearts be true and humble,
as befits his holy reign.
For the glory of the Lord
now o'er earth is shed abroad;
and all flesh shall seek the token
that the word is never broken.
Music: Psalm 42, melody Claude Goudimel (16th C.)
Words: Johann G. Olearius (17th C.); Translation Catherine Winkworth (19th C.)
Yep. I have more to talk about in relation to the text. But I think I must go give in to my German blood, despite that said blood probably can be traced further back to Jewish Poland. Heh. Maybe that's why I'm having so many problems with it...
Until then, have a good one!!! *Grabs music and marches slowly off to her doom*

FURTHER EDIT: Ehrm, sorry if those last few comments come off as at all offensive. I didn't realize that it could be taken the wrong way until I read the post over. Gomen...
